but few have access to the infrastructure needed to support an attempt on the world record

with rapid advances in technology new guidelines need to be set out for GPS record challenges.

a new system has been developed that lowers the cost and allows GPS record breaking anywhere in the world conditions are ideal

the "ROOgps" system utilises the next generation of GPS receiver, recording data 5 times a second

custom software reads and post processes the data for the highest level of accuracy 

speed results are derived from the speed over ground calculations (SOG) generated by the GPS unit, results are verified based on the number of satellites used to derive the data and the horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP)
